Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits his team’s defensive problems need to be improved urgently. Los Blancos were held to a 1-1 draw at Mallorca in La Liga on Sunday, meaning the defending champions missed out on three points from their opening weekend of the new season.
After the game, the Spanish media asked the Italian coach several questions. In one part, ‘Ancelotti’ talked about the defensive game, which he encountered problems with when losing the ball and when dealing with pressing.
Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in the press room at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix to give his thoughts on Real Madrid’s league opener: “We got off to a good start, taking the lead and then had a chance to get the second goal. We didn’t find the balance in the second half. We could have lost as there was no balance at the back. It wasn’t a good game. We need to defend better. We’re a very attacking team, but defensive balance is a fundamental factor”.
“Last year we didn’t change or rotate the squad much, but when the Champions League starts we rotate the squad more,” Ancelotti said.
“Talking about defensively, we didn’t do well UFABET. We had problems with pressing after losing the ball. We have to improve in that area. We’re talking about the attitude and responsibility of the team.
“We started well, but it wasn’t a good game. We need to defend better, we need to be more balanced. We’ve said it before. We’re an offensive team, so we need to be very balanced.”
