Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has emerged as a potential back-up for Newcastle if their attempts to sign Marc Guehi fail.

UFABET reported on Sunday that Barcelona are willing to let Andreas Christensen leave this summer for a fee in the region of €30 million, with the player reportedly being link with a move to Premier League side Newcastle.

Newcastle have tried to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi this summer but have had four bids rejected so far, Promotion Ufabet with the Magpies reportedly set to revive their interest in Barcelona defender.

Crystal Palace are believe to be holding out for £75m for the 24-year-old and it’s unlikely Newcastle will go that high, so are now looking at other options.

This comes as a major boost to the Eagles, however, given their other first-choice centre-back Joachim Andersen has also been link with an exit.

According to reports from Spain, Newcastle are considering a swoop for Christensen and a sizeable bid could tempt Barcelona into a sale.

The Danish international joined Barcelona after leaving Chelsea as a free agent in 2022 and has made 75 appearances to date for the Catalans.

According to previous reports, Barcelona have no plans to let Christensen leave, but Ufabet has revealed that the Blaugrana are willing to let the player leave if an offer of around €30 million arrives at the club.

Christensen came on as a substitute in Barcelona’s 2-1 season-opener at Valencia after Hansi Flick replaced Pau Gubarsi in the 64th minute, suggesting the 28-year-old is unlikely to be as important a player in the German’s plans.
